seen both styles of lenses sold for 69/70 thick ( flush with body) and thin ( lip of chrome body exposed) which is it or both ok? maybe early or late car? june 69 car thanks
-
Yes, an early/late thing and your June, 1969 built car would have the thick lens.
-
I have seen many times on unmolested cars that the factory used a stack of thin lens instead of the thick one. On the outside it looks the same.

Yes, my March built car is like that, but I would think that by June the transition to the thick lens would be complete.

Jim, I would tend to agree that the thick lense was used by late 69 production. I will be doing a guide on the reverse lamps that will cover the lenses as well. The question comes up quite a bit so it would be good to nail it down....

My Dearborn built 69 has an April 07 scheduled build date. It has a stack of 3 thin lenses on one side. One thick lens on the other.
-
My Metuchen '69 March 4, 1969 built Mach 1 has 3 backup light lenses on both sides
-
My car was built 20 Dec 68 and has one thin lens.

The December issue of Mustang Monthly has guide by Marcus on the 1965-70 backup lights.
Excellent article -covers housings, harness, gaskets, lenses, etc
