picked up my washers and nuts but what kind of screw was used to attach the bracket to tail panel- thanks
-
The rear license plate bracket had studs that attach it to the taillight panels not screws. They pass through the panel and are held in place by washers and nuts on the trunk side. The studs are part of the lower hinge brackets - shown on page two of the Faux Galvanizing article located in the Library on this site

well something new here- i'll have to check it out. thanks jeff

hey jeff it looks like my bracket is a different style- the two hinged tabs have a hole in them to take a bolt- there's a plate bracket on ebay currently that might be the correct one- says torino shelby etc. shows what looks like studs@ hinged tabs- can you verify. rgds david 70 gt500

was the orig rear plate bracket from a cougar? possibly a 68 or 69 style?

Believe it might match a 69 Cougar - never compared side to side (didn't match a 71 version)
Sounds like all your missing is the two mounting studs

yup -where the studs should be there's a pair of round holes. they look like fact punched so bracket was replaced at sometime in it's life. has the offset pull handle at the top. seen some reference to a 68 or 69 fairlane as being the proper bracket.
