Does anybody know what the bulb number is for these bulbs below. I have a 1970 and these are under the dash (courtesy lights)

Try UL562, and get a couple of Mustang aftermarket catalogs. They usually have what you are looking for.

i purchased some led lights similiar to the ones on the hipoparts site, if i am to use these i assume i must solder them in.Is that what any of you guys have done, i like the leds because less draw on the electrical system and they last longer.

Those should pop in similar to fuses except at the ends.
I've had four classic Mustangs (one 65, three 66's) since 1988. They don't get driven much but this year was the first I've had to replace a bulb, a headlight, in any of them. Incandescent bulbs are very resiliant. However, they get dim with age, sometimes get stuck in their sockets due to corrosion and the solder/lead base gets flat but that can be reformed. As to replacing bulbs with LED's, I prefer to keep my cars concours correct as best as I can, and $8 a bulb is not a good buy.

understand your rationale, i like the cool hue of the leds, dont plan on showing or really caring what others think. Just wondering if anyone had experience with this particular application of leds, i already purchased the bulbs and have originals that still light up. originals have the wire that wraps around and theleds dont, they dont want to stay in place like a fuse, a little solder might do the trick. For now i guess i will stay stock. My car is all original with exception of carpet, headliner, tires, brakes, gas, etc.....

I have been looking and can not find a supplier for the somewhat unique under dash courtesy light bulbs. Can anyone please provide a possible source for these bulbs with the U shape wire end connections.

Check your owners manual for correct bulb identification designation which will make it easier to search for .

Thanks Bob and Brian, I did a different search and finally found the part number which is a GE 561 or Sylvania 561.
Yes the LED's are readily available but would like the original type bulbs which are much harder to find these days but now with the part number should make it a bit easier.
Thanks again.

Thanks, live in Canada, went to order some bulbs and they where very cheap, shipping was defined @ $210.00 USD. I have since located some Phillips 516 locally for $1.50 each.
