Wanted Single exhaust system for 289 2V
« on: April 04, 2022, 11:13:42 PM »
Looking to change out my incorrect dual exhaust to the proper single exhaust on my 68 Sprint B.  I'd also be open to buying it from one of the parts places just not sure which one gets me the concours correct version.  Thoughts?

I got a Scott Drake for the 289/2V to replace the shade tree duals. I am happy with the look and the sound (a little more baritone than I expected). The installer had to cut it up to fit over the axle. I am not sure if that is the manufacturer or the installer with the screwup.  :(

Thank you for the info.  Is your car a concours car? Do you know about the Virginia Classic Mustang parts they offer? Are they Amy good compared to Scott Drake?

Not a concours, but the Scott Drake is approved repro if I remember correctly. The website should say. I don't know anything about what VM would offer. Maybe Scott Drake or something else.

Not sure what you mean by an "approved repro" as MCA stopped that practice 2 decades ago.

Don't think your going to find a system you can just order from a catalog that is going to look like an original for your application

Took me a long time to find a nos small block v8 single exhaust. Now I'm just working out how to get the 1 piece 91" exhaust home to australia.

Not sure if you can get parts from National Parts Depot but that is what I ended up going with.  The fit is very good except I had to take off about 1" from  the intermediate pipe so the pipe going over the rear axle would not hit the axle of the floor above. Also I had to get another set of C clamps because the ones were not 68 versions and the rear clamp I had to ask for too to make sure it was appropriate. Let's hope it's all good. Just waiting for one more C Clamp.

I've not used them, I was the shipping address for some Forum members in Australia that ordered systems from Fuller. What I can say is the pipes looked "good", I assume they fit as I got no complaints. It is my understanding that Scott Fuller pipes are expensive. (Their packaging was a bit substandard but I beefed up the boxes and UPS - and others - picked them up.)

Scott does not currently make a single exhaust system for the OP's application.

The single exhaust set from VA classic Mustang was awesome. Fits well, no issues with the install. I have it on my 64 1/2 260 coupe. Would by one again from them if needed. Not sure of the supplier but it is very good quality.
