1970 speed cable question?
« on: April 16, 2014, 08:30:23 PM »
I got a new speedo cable into my 1970 302 with a c4 auto trans and the cable looks different. Well, the connection does. I thought the cable went straight from the back on the speedometer into the trans, but mine had a break where something electrical divides the speed cable. Please see pics and help. Ahhhhh!

My thought was that the electrical was for cruise control but google says Kevin Marti's book "Mustang by the Numbers" states no 70 Mustangs were equipped with cruise control from the factory.
A dealer could do it though.
Have you got a speed setting button at the tip of your turn signal switch?

Your car has the distributor modulator system, or Disto-Vac.

If your restoring the car - yes. If not I have no idea of the impact it will have on the other parts of the system if they are in place and in use. If you've removed everything then no but that is a subject for another web site ;)   Not really the focus here
