1965 Mustang Brake Pedal Pad
« on: January 04, 2015, 07:45:18 PM »
Folks

You have helped me out in the past and I need you assistance again. I have a 65 automatic coupe with disc power brakes. Which brake pedal pad is used? It is a standard interior car.
1. C5ZZ-2454-C  has "Disc Brake" written on it
2. C5ZZ-2457-E has "Power Brake" written on it
3. C5andyZZ-2457-F has nothing wrtten on it

Thanks for your help in advance.

Opps - as mentioned head was some where else    :o

No power disc brakes on the Mustang until 67 as a option or part of a option  package

Might want to check what your car has again - might have been modified (non stock)

I don't believe this was a factory option. Ans: none of the above.

If it is none of the above then what would it. It is for my Dearborn coupe that is a very late 65 car.

According to the Mustang Recognition Guide, there is a picture on page 49 of the brake pedal saying "Power Brake" on it, with a picture above it of the power brake booster.  My understanding, which could be wrong, is that this was only available on the 6 cylinder cars, as the booster and MC combination would hit the valve covers on the V8.  Power disk brakes were not available until 1967.

The later 67+ cars with PDB used a pedal that just had 'DISC BRAKES' on it with the stainless circle trim.  Guess if you want to be consistent with later 'Ford practice', then just go that way.  As others have said, it was not possible to order 65-66 disc brake cars with a power booster setup from the factory.
