In 67-68 Mustangs, does anyone have information on installation and wiring of a light inside of the ash tray compartment?
Is this mentioned in the assembly manual? (I'm not near mine at the moment)

I don't think so. There is no wiring shown, and I think when the ash tray is closed you can't see a light, and when it's open the upper part of the ash tray would block the light.
Note: the mounting bracket for 64 thru 66 (C4DB-6204826) ash tray has a provision for a light housing with "clip ears" and the lead can be plugged into the instrument (dimmer) light circuit.
