Topic: Windlace retainer

Saw this on Virginia mustang blog.  Is the windlace retainer used on all cars?  Mine does not have them, and doesn't seem to have the holes for them.

Yes, they should be installed.  Have never seen an original car without them.

Same color as paint on metal part of dash.

+1 Never found one without it unless some one had redone, repainted or repaired the area or been in there for some other reason

Being that the retainer is attached in the door frame, I believe that "body" color is appropriate.

So in the last pic tou can clearly see the retainer is painted the color of the dash. I assume they were painted off the car as the screw appears to not have paint on it. Would they have been grouped with the ash tray and speaker grill?

Don't know for certain since I've never seen them in any plant pictures, never found a worker who was stationed at such a location or worker describing how these small interior parts were handled. But a small paint line with non-attached parts would be a similar practice as body parts paint application for unattached parts

Looks like it matched to door paint color & wind lacing rather than the exterior

That is what I've seen on other pony/deluxe interiors in 66 SJ so far.

Lots of different terms as we've found for the same things. Guess your using frame for the outer door jamb in this case.
