Hardware sizes and their location master list?
« on: January 25, 2019, 02:32:52 PM »
Does anyone know if a list of bolt sizes and their locations exist for pre 1973 mustangs? For example, AMK has a good catalog of hardware and a part number for a specific use, however I'm needing to know what that bolt (or screw) size actually is.

AMK has a lot of the hardware, and a few even state the thread size but not the length. But some hardware isnt listed, for example the lower dash bolts in a 69/70 mustang. Once the thread size is determined, do I use the 1" long bolts I have, or the 1 1/4"?

Just curious if there is anything documented anywhere, a website, restoration book, etc. After 50+ years of previous owners taking things apart, you'd think this would be a resource someone has needed before.

I just happened to scroll into the library for the 1st time (I know...I know), and ran across this.  Seems like that always happens after I post.  :(

Also you can find the bolt in the assemblyline manual if you like more visual aids. The fastener in the manual will have a number by it . You cross reference the number in the manual with the list of numbers in the back of the AMK guide to fasteners which is a modern companion book to the assemblyline manuals . When you find the number in the AMK list it will indicate a page in the book . When you go to that page you will see a picture of the bolt in question and then if you match the assembly manual number on the page you will find the length ,thread etc.
