Hi All,

I was hoping to disassemble some wheel covers I have and do some restoration. What kind of rivets are used to bind the mounting prongs on the side mounting surface of the 1968 shelby wheel cover?

Also, whats the best technique for removing them?

The rivet is called a blind or solid rivet . They have to be pressed in. Its unusual to remove them when restoring hubcaps.

I've used this company, Jay-Cee Sales & Rivet, Inc. for rivets on my cars. See https://rivetsinstock.com/ You may need special dies to fit the river. I used a one ton arbor manual press I got from Harbor Freight and made my own adapters to restore Mustang ashtrays.

Thanks for the guidance. I was thinking I needed to separate it from the trim ring to be able to bump out some dings and curb bumps. I'll see if there's another way.
