Correct Alternator
« on: May 18, 2020, 01:46:48 PM »
Hi,

Shelby GT350 June 12, 1969 Dearborn, production number 3000.

My original Build Sheet lists 4B under alternator option. it's a non a/c car. Can anyone decode this for me? Additionally would I be correct in surmising that the alternator ID should be metal stamped C9Z-----and should be matted with a blue with silver lettered voltage regulator?

Thank You!

Study this for your answer. This is correct information. https://www.deadnutson.com/1965-1971-ford-autolite-alternators/  . The typical regulator for your application is the blue cover "C8AF " silver letter regulator. Not the yellow letter "C8TF".

Thanks Bob,

He indicates that my mid year 69 would have a C6AF coded alternator. 1966 casting and not 1969?

Are you able to decode the 4A on my build sheet to be sure?

Thanks, I'm trying to learn.

Some 69 BOSS 302 got a C6AF marked alternator too .  ;) I agree with Jack's website. The engineering number is metal stamped in this later 69 case.
