2-inch Exhaust Band Clamps - Concours Correct
« on: February 26, 2011, 11:07:53 AM »
I have just finished fabricating "Concours Correct" 2-inch exhaust band clamps.  These are the clamps that go around the tailpipes and over the "J" hook to hold the tailpipes.  They are exact copies of the original assembly-line clamps used on all Shelby and Mustang exhaust (2-inch exhaust) from 1967 - 1969.  Stamped with the FoMoCo logo (Ford licensed) and "8-A" just like the originals.  First time ever offered.  In stock and ready to ship.  More details on my website.

Scott, is it a screw or more of a lag bolt. i believe the one original clamp I have looks to have a lag bolt type fastener.

Yes, it's like a lag bolt.  The fastener description would be Hex Head Tapping Screw.  It is a #20-9, has an indented head, is 1.50-inches long.

Most lag bolts do not have indented heads on them.  And most are zinc plated, not phosphated.

I have a '69 Mach 1 with 351 2-V "H" code engine as we all know is a single exhaust car. I'm looking for the clamps that were used on single exhaust that are concours correct. Scott, have you got these? From where the "Y" pipe connects to the intermediate pipe and also at the muffler(front and back of the muffler) is 2 1/2". The tailpipe is 2". Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The band clamp that I make (above) would be correct for your tailpipe, however, the 2.50-inch saddle clamp is not made.  You might be able to take a 2.125 and modify it so that it will work on the 2.50-inch system though.  That's about your only option.

I appreciate the info. My problem is that MCA wants to count off for my clamps not being right. Well, If a person can't get them, I don't see how they can count off for it....Charles or Jeff, do you want to reply to this?   If I don't get a response to this, I will start another post to see if I can get some answers.

+1 . The need for these items is what drives people like Scott and others to make them available. Bob
