1966 Filler Hose
« on: October 18, 2021, 05:32:15 PM »
Alright guys I'm trying to find a concours looking Fuel filler hose that looks correct and I'll add a white paint line as the final detail.  Anyone have such a hose... If it's longer I can always cut it to length.  I have 2 hoses.  One is a NORS correct length and another is a NOS Ford hose from 1977.  Not sure if I want to cut the NOS hose. The correct length hose has a wrapping style while the NOS hose has the rubber ridges.   If anyone still has the correct looking hose please PM me the value you'd like to get.  Don't know if there is a difference between plants but mine is a San Jose built.

Nether hose looks assemblyline correct .The red stripe repro hose is very far off and the 1977 service hose is hard to tell from the resolution in the picture . The assemblyline hose typically has a texture in the rubber of varying degree . Many refer to the texture as alligator texture because of a comparison to the reptiles skin. The D7 one in the picture looks smooth. Also the assemblyline hose was most typically seen without a stripe.

The NOS hose does have a light form of alligator skin or ridges.  Some concours folks say that there was a white stripe on the assembly line hoses as I read here.  Not sure if that is correct or were there varieties of stripes vs. no stripes.

All the originals I've found had the white stripe as shown in the previous thread(s)

I found some Fuel filler hoses that might have the correct texture that I'll need to cut to size.  I haven't asked the sellers about the size yet or if it will be the same hose that I'll receive.  Realistically guys I don't know where else to look.  If you know where I can get a concours looking hose or where did you get your concours looking hose please let me know.

I have had pretty good luck over the years just taking a filler neck to the local auto parts store. Some modern hose has the heavy texture too. The way it was described to me is that the texture was a undesirable look that many mfg's evolved away from. Many stores workers will take you to the back to view all of the different application hanging hose varieties .  I have been able to find some that are textured among the many that are not. I try to pick one that I can get the most sections of filler neck hose from .
I haven't had to do it for a year or too so I don't know how things have changed. As it turns out I need some for a project . I will let you know how I do. It may be a few days.

A bit small.  Falcon probably had a shorter circumference
