Topic: Trunk lid alignment

Ive been struggling with getting my trunk lid top edge to align with the tops of the quarter extension (end caps). I cant compress the new gasket enough to get the trunk lid to align with the end caps, Im off about 3/16". Im ready to install the trunk stripe. Ive removed the gasket and am considering my options, one local Mustang buddy suggested trying to recurve the top of the tail light panel (no). I thinking of installing a seal for the same year coupe/convertible trunk. Thank you for your suggestions.
