Topic: 9 inch rear end leak

Anyone out there ever have a 9 inch rear end leak from the pinion support?   It is not leaking from the pinion seal, but from where the pinion support bolts to the case. I cleaned everything up good, didn't see any obvious concerns, and installed a new o-ring seal.  Reinstalling the support went smoothly and I have no reason to believe there is anything wrong with the new o-ring. It still leaked after I was done and put some miles on the car.
Are you supposed to use a sealer on the bolts?  I am tempted to put a small amount of RTV on the mating surfaces of the support and case, but I don't want to mess up the pinion depth or backlash.
Any one out there have this problem?  How'd you fix it?

No help I'm afraid but do have a 9" leaking problem of my own. I get oil leaking through the center of the yoke, but only after it has been sitting for 2 or more days. Figure its the pinion but don't quiet understand how it only happens when its not in use and takes the few days to start leaking.

Couldn't tell you how many times I seen this as a mechanic while working at Ford. I would then and still do now allways use a just so slight wipe of a good grade of sealer such as Permatex Ultra Black on the o-ring and face area of the pinion carrier before reassembly. If there is a shim skin coat side facing carrier and the inside perimeter of shim where it meats the pinion support and also on the splines that the yoak attaches to. Guarantee it will leak from behind the yoak retaining nut if you don't, just a matter of time. And I'm talking about enough Ultra black that a thimbles full would do a few pinion supports.
