WTB: Original Stock 5 lug, 14x5 Rim
« on: August 19, 2014, 05:22:57 PM »
I'm looking for 1 original stock, 5 lug, 14x5 rim (I don't need the tire.) preferably date coded 4G (July 64) or 4H (Aug 64) for the spare tire in my September 2, 1964 Dearborn built fastback.  The paint doesn't have to be perfect but I'd like it to be free of dents, gouges and deep scratches.

I got my set of 5 June 64 original rims from All Classic Mustang...not cheap, but originals and restored.

Try Metro Parts Market in College Park, GA.  Tell Mike that Randy sent you.

Thanks midlife.  Checked their website.  They have a new repro for $140 (Yikes!).  CJ Pony Parts has a new repro for $103.  Do you know if they sell used wheels?

Yes.  They specialize in that sort of thing.  Last time I went there in person, Mike was proud to say he just sold a set of 5 13" steel wheels.

Tried Mustang Barn a couple of weeks ago.  They didn't have a 14x5 rim available.

I'll give Metro Parts a call tomorrow.

Thanks kcodecoupe!

Another source is Don at Ohio Mustang Supply.  He has a fair amount of salvage cars, and has a very good customer service reputation.

Thanks kcodecoupe.  I appreciate you looking for me.

midlife, I did not have a chance to call Ohio Mustang Supply or Metro Parts Market but I will give them a ring.

I came across a few prospects but they were all pretty banged up or heavily rusted.  If I run out of options, I was going to consider a reproduction rim.  Jeggs and Summit seem to offer a possibility.  Here's a link.

What do you think.  Is the wheel bolt pattern of 5 x 4 1/2 in. correct?  They also offer a bolt pattern of wheel bolt pattern of 5 x 4 3/4 in.

Here's a previous thread on the 5 rims I bought from All Classic Mustang:

Good info.  Those wheels look top notch.  All Classic Mustang didn't have a rim available.  They put me on the parts watch list.

I got a rim.  I didn't find exactly what I wanted with respect to date code and/or condition, so I decided to buy a reproduction rim made by Wheel Vintiques from summit racing.  Thanks for all your help folks!
