Jeff has a good start on isolating the problem.  I'd check the fuse box first, then the ignition switch and the connector.

There are lots of things I can think of that match your situation, too many to discuss without more information.  Could be as simple as a bad ground, but since you can crank the engine, that tells me that at least power is going to the ignition switch and back out to the starter solenoid.

Electricity to me has always been like hydraulics. Your have the source (the battery) that flows through the wires to the rest of the car.

Guess you have a wiring diagram and a test light or meter.

1- Got power leaving the solenoid?

2- Got power to the ignition switch?

3- Which wires are energized when the ignition switch is turn on?

4- Power to one of the small wires at the solenoid when the key is on?

5- Power to the other small wire at the solenoid when the key is turn to start?

6- All the fuses good and power to which ones with the ignition off

Those are the easy ones and the basis I would start with

Midlife should be around soon he's the expert in these matters. I just get lucky and fix things often in a none professional way.

1966 Shelby / Re: Mixing Insructions GT350H Bronze Gold Powder
« Last post by J_Speegle on May 09, 2024, 11:10:43 PM »
I also understand the some Shelby Mustangs received the Painted Stripes from the dealers as Shelby's price was to expensive.  Which could mean that not all Shelby Gold Stripes are the same color.  Since this is an Original Hertz Shelby with number in the 1200's I suspect that Shelby painted the stripes and not the dealer who received the vehicle.  Can you help with the mixing instructions for this Bronze Gold Powder per Shelby's instructions?  Any help is appreciated.  Thanks

Believe you will find that stripes added by the dealers was often done to please a buyer since a fair number of buyers didn't want the stripes nor the attention from the police they brought but there. If a buyer wanted a specific car they had on the lot and the buyer wanted to have stripes added it was another way for the dealer to add to the price.

Since we're specifically discussing gold stripes we're just looking at cars leased or sold to Hertz so I don't think you will find those documented with stripes added when new. Just delayed getting them out to the locations and Hertz would have likely pitched a fit if they were delivered with out stripes since that was the way they were advertised

BTW welcome to the site.  Hope you find the support and answers you need for your restoration

Another question. For my '66, any idea where to buy the two parts circled, 11736 and 111B82? I know 111B82 is the rubber stop mounted on the bottom side of the rear panel, however, I don't know what 11736 is.

Both bumpers are not reproduced (like never) as far as I know. Only choice would be to find good used one and buy them or borrow them to make molds and cast your own. If you do the later make a half dozen or a full dozen, pick the best ones then sell the other nice ones.

Body, Paint & Sealers / Re: Interesting splash shield

It must be a very late service part. I never have seen pop rivets used.

Agree. Just another low bidder sub contractor that got the contract to make x amount of splash shields

Would not surprise me and it would support the thought, if some of the bends or edges are different from originals

Just so the focus of the thread  does not just reflect the screw discussion I'll find time and post VINs and or pictures of examples that originally had rivets.

Posted on Facebook for anyone who might have an unmolested interior SJ car built between august of 64 and December 64. The red car is actually 5R09K125001 when Jr shelby owned it (don?t know if that is his real name). First white car has a November 64 build date and the second white one is October 3, 1964. As I get more responses I?ll post.
