1969 390 Air Cleaner Base Gasket and Air Cleaner Stud
« on: April 04, 2016, 10:57:23 AM »
I have two questions I hope you guys can help me with:

1. What would be the correct height for the gasket that sits between the bottom of the factory air cleaner and the factory carburetor  for my 1969 390 4V Mustang built in Dearborn in April of 1969? I installed a Felpro 60032 gasket but I think it may be too low.

2. What would be the correct air cleaner stud for my Mustang? I purchased an AMK F-459 stud but the air cleaner lid sits about 3/8" off of the base (which is why I'm asking the first question).

Thanks.

OK, I just found this previous thread on this site (http://www.concoursmustang.com/forum/index.php?topic=7753.0) and I think I have the wrong air cleaner stud. Looks like I need one without the hex nut towards the top. Still not sure about the gasket height.

I have one of these gaskets stashed away somewhere? so ebay pics is the best I can do right now.
Period correct gaskets are these reddish ones.

The genuine ones appear to be 3 of the thinner ones glued together. You can see the separation. The red material was a adhesive which was only on one side of the gasket. It was positioned typically to stick to the bottom of the aircleaner assembly. If it stuck at all. Most don't.

Thanks 7Lscjracer. I did see the top eBay link you posted above but wasn't sure if that was the correct gasket.
