Has 2B interior Aqua/Dark Blue (with dark carpet). Looking for paint code (PPG?) for the interior. The sails, trim strips, dash, column, lower interior quarter fiberglass panels, trap door, interior door shells are all the same color correct? Are there any colors I am missing inside? Trying to get my notes together for the painter.
Are the a-pillars (facing the interior) supposed to be painted exterior body color underneath the pads?
thanks for the help

Yes with two notes; (1) due to the varied locations where components were made, originally there was not an exact match, but they were all close. Due to the price of paint (material and labor) it is not practical to worry about this too much, IMO. But then again not too many people think that anything Concours is practical... (2) the trap door would be the same color on both sides.
Are there any colors I am missing inside?
(1) You did not list the components that were dark - fiberglass seat parts, door panels, carpet, dashpad, dashpad to windshield moldings. Also I found that (2) the headliner and upper console were clearly lighter than the rest of the light aqua components. My console was ok as-is, but I needed a new headliner unfortunately, and I got dye matched to the original. It's almost like on an old wrap-around front porch where the ceiling is painted sky blue.

That is my observation. Don't forget the blackout on the top of the dash where the defrost vents are.
Other random thought - the door inner paint mask did not follow the weatherstrip. There are lots of sample pictures around here to show you what that should look like.

John,
Thanks for the help, that is what I was looking for. Do you know the paint code for the light parts and the dark parts by chance?

My headliner is definitely the lighter sky blue color
Which fiberglass seat parts are you speaking about? I have standard interior so chrome sides with the vinyl covered backs. Door panels, carpet and dashpad will all be purchased Dark Blue. Good catch on the 2pc metal trim for dash..I need to paint that dark blue.

John,
A couple of great points, what NOT to paint is often not included in instructions to the paint shop; and the masking technique is also ignored.

Did you happen to check the article/information in the Library under - Paint Codes, 1967 Interior & Exterior - Information and reprints of period paint codes
Some parts are also (depending on which style of interior you have) molded in the appropriate/matching colors and not painted
Are the a-pillars (facing the interior) supposed to be painted exterior body color underneath the pads?
I can't confirm specifically 67 NJ built fastbacks as there are few good examples in my collection or out there and then really nice ones are not disassembled to see many of these "hidden" areas. Did a quick check of my pictures to see if there was anything I missed or had not updated - No luck but did find two 67 NJ fastbacks with blue interiors but not anything the relates directly to this thread. It's likely that they (NJ) followed similar pratices as the other two plants just can be certain at this time and we've documented differences in the past
Detail 67gta289 was referring to on the dash top - defroster openings

An example. In the assembly manuals, sound deadener applications in the front wheel wells is shown to be full coverage from edge to edge Have seem some restores copy this detail on their cars only to regret it later. Of course "that's what the book says" often and attempt at a defense

My friend who painted for me used SEM Color Coat Elastomeric Coating. I could only find the formula for the "medium" blue. See the attached pictures. I neglected to get the others, did not seem important at the time. Sorry.

My error, I had interior decor on my mind, vinyl seat backs match the light color of the seat itself.

For door paint masking, there is a nice example in this thread. Nice due to the contrast. https://www.concoursmustang.com/forum/index.php?topic=5463.msg30687#msg30687

Would add that some original examples will have more color on the bottom of the door edge. All depends on how far the painter would bend over and how tall they were when they applied the interior color which came before the exterior color

Thanks for the help from everyone, the more research I do on here sometimes I get in 'analysis paralysis' mode.
Jeff so after looking at the 1967 color sheet in the library the two colors for the interior would be :
Medium Turquoise Poly and Medium Blue Poly which are listed on the first page?
Why do they not correspond with the interior colors listed on page 2 of the color sheet? What am I missing?
Thanks again

For a blue interior the painted parts would be painted the Medium Blue Poly paint color. Believe I created that first page from the back side of the original color chip pages shown on page 1 or 2 but did not scan clearly because of condition
Why do they not correspond with the interior colors listed on page 2 of the color sheet? What am I missing?
Maybe I'm missing something. Page #2 and #3 of the article show only exterior colors. Typically PPG color chips of the interior are not included only name and color code

I don't recall seeing the soft trim index in the library. Here is a scan. The blues, particularly 29 looks almost black. The trouble with scanning. It does though clearly identify the "headlining" as a third color, significantly lighter.

Jeff, here is what I am speaking about. Page 2 of the document clearly says "Interior Colors" at the top of it.

It's a bit late posting the picture, and it's source.

Ok now I see what you were referencing. Let me look in to it and get back after I review a couple of things

Jeff...thanks, just wanted to verify medium colors as the light ones sure look like a match to me...just want to make sure I get it right.

Do you actually have anything to add of any substance? Go garbage up your own post
