I have one of each on my car.  Both have the same part ID on the center section SAE-TSDB-69MG.  Brian

The numbers on the lense are not a Ford number but a required number on the lenses that was from SAE.  You actually see this on all the different exterior lenses.  There is different codes for different lenses.

As far as the logos, both are originals.  The small and the large.  I looked thru what I have here and a good mix of both.  I also think the small logo was earlier since it seems the 70 lenses then used a large logo.  The current reproduction, which is excellent, uses the large logo.

The only noticeable difference between the two style lenses is there is what I call a small weep hole or indentation in the bottom middle.  You can see that here:

I have an early 69 mustang and luckily two lenses with the small logo. So i will be able to get it right.

69 Tail light Lens Differences
I started to disassemble my tail lights to polish the lenses and replace the gaskets and I noticed that the Ford Oval on one of the lenses was smaller than on the other.  Does anyone know why they would be different?  I don't have a history as to whether one of the tail lights was replaced on my car.

My car is an early 69 GT built in Metuchen with a build date of November 27, 1968.

Any information would be appreciated.  I'd like to replace which ever one would be considered "incorrect".

Thanks.

Taillight Lens

As some of us know there is a Ford logo on the taillight lens.
Now from my observations from this forum the early ones were small and the latter ones are larger.
My question is which month during production did they change?
Or did they use different dies to keep production moving.

Going to merge all three together and hopefully we can get more input from owners or get others to start observing and reporting back. The vast majority of my pictures do not focus on this small up close details :(
