Correct Oil Pan Colour 1967?

Hello, I'm about to re-paint my oilpan in blue. Now I'm looking for the most matching colorcode for my (early) 1967 (30L = Nov. 1966)
Some say Duplicolor #1606 (described as FORD Corporate Blue) same as engine color. Is that correct, or are there other matching color codes possible, such as FORD dark blue?
Pan repros are mostly in that color sold (Scott Drake.....)
Does anyone has a "concours" recommandation? Would be great to receive your feedback.

If Scott Drake fits in colour, I had in mind to buy it. However, don't know the quality of the part....

For a rattle can 1606 Duplicolor is close. There is a PPG mix that is better quality.
BTW you picture did not show up.

First the oil pan and mounting hardware was painted as part of the full engine assembly. so all the mounting hardware and gasket are painted

Sounds like your either trying to match the color you already have on the rest of the engine or what was there originally. The second choice will likely not match the rest of the engine.


The concourse way would have been to paint the engine the correct original Corporate Blue originally making the addition/change of pan a little easier.

If you the search feature you will find many threads that discuss the out of the gun paint formula and a discussion of the current close to original color out of the can according to the general opinion here. Clue its the one Marty mentions above.


Believe, at this point, the newly painted oil pan will be obvious looking at the condition of the car you provided.

To complicate things there is a lighter then typical blue and a more typical assemblyline blue that is described as dark blue . There are a LOT of things changed from assemblyline in picture so I am assuming that the paint is not original ether . Hard to say what will match a unknown repainted color . Assemblyline paint is a known quantity and easier to make accurate suggestions. The point is you can not go by the "name" of the color. You have to go by the product which you will get excellent suggestions of the more correct looking color products here.

People here in Germany recommend Toyota 857 medium blue which is similar to Old Ford Blue 1621. It's something between FORD Light Blue 1601 and FORD Corporate Blue DE 1606.
Problem seems to be the difficulty to import rattle cans Duplicolor/Enamel from US to Germany.....forbidden. In Germany hardly to get.

Ok, could be that mine has been re-colored sometime and does not match original anymore. No idea...

Still not clear which colour I should use. Asking a german "specialist" he says FORD light blue would be correct for my car built. Neither the FORD Dark Blue nor the FORD Corporate Blue.

The color in this country would be "FORD Corporate Blue" as mentioned above. Problem is that its just a name not a mix/or formula  - just what they label the container as.
If you need a sprayable (out of a spray gun) the PPG number is listed in maybe a dozen threads related to painting the engines

I have the PPG codes and it is still available in the Dallas area, however it has lead and I am sure you can't get it in the DDR..  Uh, I mean Germany. I did take care of getting some to a member here, however It would have to go via AIR to Deutschland, and that would be hard to do.

P.S. National Parts Depot does offer a catalyzed aerosol can version of the paint. It's possible that can be shipped.
