Gt500 exhaust manifolds
« on: July 02, 2020, 12:52:38 PM »
I have to remove a set of headers and put the stock manifolds on a 69 Shelby gt500. Will I have to jack up the engine to get manifolds in or will they slip in?

I like to have the car off the floor enough to allow a creeper with me on top of it. Then you will have to lift the motor up off its mounts in order to get the headers out. That means at least removing the fan / fan shroud / radiator hoses.

The transmission nuts on the crossmember will need to be backed off so the transmission can tilt.

Pull the long bolts out of the insulators and then the motor can be lifted 4" or so.

Doing this will allow you to have enough room to do the job.
