*WANTED* one NOS Tung-Sol 6012 Sealed Beam
« on: November 29, 2022, 07:50:51 AM »
As the title states,  *WANTED* one NOS Tung-Sol 6012 Sealed Beam

Presently, I have one NOS TS  (no logo) that I'd like to pair up with a second one and add the logo onto them.

If someone is in need of USED ORIGINALS, I have 2 good used ones at this time, one with a "J6" date code (this one has the Ford script logo) and another one that doesn't appear to have the logo, with an illegible date stamp. Both of these are Tung-Sol.

NOTE: Without a second NOS bulb being acquired, the used ones are NOT available for sale.

Are you looking for a bulb with the FoMoCo logo in the center?  Frosted or molded into the glass?

Not necessarily...we have the technology to etch the logo onto an otherwise correct bulb. I believe it was GE *It was Westinghouse that molded the logo into the glass (not Tung-Sol).

Again, I have ONE NOS Tung-Sol without the logo and trying to pair it up with a 2nd one.
*edited correction to Westinghouse,  I knew it wasn't Tung-Sol

The only molded glass versions back in the day were Westinghouse not Tun Sol. TungSol marked the bulbs for Ford by etching the glass.

No. I am not building a Thoroughbred,  as long as the visible side of the sealed beam matches the new appearance of the other new one I have, that is enough. As stated, I do have the two USED ones but they are used ones. I have considered polishing the glass on the one without the logo but I'm not convinced that it would match to look "as new" as the new one looks.

I have since posting this Wanted ad, come across another NOS Tung-Sol 6012 bulb.

I still have the aforementioned USED Original ones also.

I will plan to be at the June Carlisle All Ford event and I will bring all 4 bulbs (plus many other NOS and USED usable spare parts, including NOS front & rear 67/68 bumpers).

Look for more upcoming "For Sale" items in the next several weeks.

Looks like you found a match to your other nos bulb. Just wanted to post these two different Tung Sol examples for future references to this post.  There are several variations of 6012 Tung Sol bulbs that were being produced in mid 60's.  Some produced specifically for use on Ford production vehicles and some may not have.   I do not know anything about the specific time periods when each example was manufactured.  But I have two different examples with Tung Sol (the other TS) molded in the glass.  One with FoMoCo etched in the center and one without.  The version with "Tung Sol" molded in the glass is dated 11/64 and the version with "TS" molded is dated 11/65.  Are either of these versions what you have left for sale?

I have 4 of the "TS' version ONLY (none of that 1964 "Tung-Sol" version at all)
* Only one is an Assemblyline "FoMoCo" and etched, USED example ink stamp H66 & J6. This is original to my 11/2/66 San Jose car
   (date-Sept.1966?)
* Another USED one I have IS ALSO the "TS" version but no FoMoCo etching. That one, the ink stamp is not discernible. (this one was
removed from a 68 Mustang Headlight Housing at a swap meet)
* One NOS (in box) "TS" version, ink stamp H70 & H0 (no FoMoCo etching) (date-Aug. 1970?)
* Another NOS (in box) "TS" version ink stamp H72 & J2 (no FoMoCo etching) (date-Sept. 1972?)

Both NOS Bulbs are in a "sock" inside good boxes, though the 1972 dated one the box is more "yellowed" than the 1970 dated one.

Keep in mind, a fellow member here at this forum, has the the templates to etch in the FoMoCo logo if desired. In the spirit of an archivist (of which I have been trained), Rule #1 is DO NO HARM so I have NOT tried to add the etching myself.

These bulbs were NOT CHEAP for me to obtain and therefore, as a pair (either pair) I plan to either market them at a fair market value or leave them to my estate.

Ralph Polshak made up stencils unique for GE and the different unique ones for Tung-Sol. He wholesales them to NPD for retail sale.

I collected a bunch of NOS Rotunda head light bulbs. The suppliers to Ford varied, mostly Westinghouse and Tung Sol. Judging by the manufacturers' date stamps on back of the bulbs, it appears; the " Tung-Sol" logo switched to "TS" sometime in 1965

Yes Westinghouse was a supplier to Ford however they apparently didn't supply bulbs or at least a extremely small amount to the Ford plants assembling Mustangs. There are most likely some out there (because I hate to say never) but given out of the many hundreds or more survivor 65-69 Mustangs I have seen not to mention the hundreds of junk yard donors Mustang cars I have seen I haven't come across any Westinghouse in a untouched matrix. You forgot to mention GE which was at least as prevalent used on 65-69 Mustangs as TS at all plants.
