Topic: Carpet suggestions

For our 67 coupe restoration with a 2B interior, does anyone have suggestions on what shade of blue carpet to go with? The car did not have any carpet left in it when the restoration started so I don?t have the luxury of cleaning and reusing the carpet or even sending off a small piece to NPD, for instance, to get their closet match. ACC?s website shows item 3525 original loop material carpet in Ford blue, Medium blue, Dark blue, and Aqua. They offer Mass backing. ACC website also shows item 8116 which is nylon carpet in Light blue, Medium blue, Dark blue and Aqua. And they also offer Mass backing. NPD offers ACC carpet in Ford blue, Dark blue and Aqua, all colors offer Mass backing. ACC will send a sample of their carpet, but what samples should I ask for, the loop or the nylon, what does NPD carry? With so many shades of blue to choose from, if you had a car with 2B interior, what color would you go with? I appreciate your advice!

Aqua is the closest to original.  I was able to take my sample to the NPD counter and check against all of the blues (they are so helpful).  In the end, the look and feel of the new carpet was so different that I elected to scrub and reuse my 1980 replacement, which was an exact match to the true original.  I hope that makes sense.

Think I?ll request samples from ACC in their original loop style, item 3525. Just judging by the prices on NPD and CJ websites,  I?m thinking that NPD carries ACC nylon carpet and CJ carries ACC original loop style carpet? I can compare the ACC samples look and feel to my 68?s carpeting, I believe that my 68?s carpeting is original so that should give me an idea on the correct look and feel.

Samples are a good idea.  My grandkids love going to Costco for the samples!
