Topic: 1969 1970 headliner bows

Looking for actually just the front headliner bow for a 70 Boss 302.  Should be marked with white paint on the ends, but will buy a full set if anyone has anything for sale.
Coupe and fastback headliner bows are different.

Are you saying that a 70 Boss headliner bow is different than a 70-fastback bow?  If so, how?

No....what I am saying is a fastback and coupe have different headliner bows.  There is some thinking that some of the bows are the same between the two body styles but I have not seen that.

Right now I have not been able to get any headliner bows so looking at maybe making a copy of the missing bow.  Will see.....

I actually have a set of 70 fastback bows I will borrow this upcoming week and look at what it takes to reproduce a set.  Best to start with exactly what I need and go from there....not sure yet what will be involved.

Ok made a set of headliner bows based on an original set.  I spoke to a local upholstery shop I know here that does alot of custom interiors and they recommended a 3/16 diameter rod since the original Ford bows are an odd thickness and shape (not round).  All custom headliners they make use the 3/16 rods and never had an issue.

Used a cold rolled steel rod (available at most metal supply places) and fabricated these up.  Dont have the tooling to put the exact swedged ends on so just welded some small little tabs that are almost identical to originals and will serve the same purpose.  Those tabs are not necessary in my opinion but easy enough to put on there just in case.

As others should take notice he didn't just make one. I was always taught that if you make custom or parts of any kind make more than you need, pick the best one - if there is one, and you'll always have someone who will want one after seeing yours.  That is how a fair majority of the small reproduction shops around the country get started - lack of a part and the willingness to tackle the task

Yeah...I cant be the first one that has ever needed headliner bows.  Actually surprised nobody makes these.  But then again not sure how often people are missing these.

I've sold 7 sets from the junkyard over the last several years, usually go for about $200 a set, so there is a market.  There's one more, a super rusty, quarter panel smacked 351-2V auto drum brake Mach 1 with complete interior and I'm working to get the whole enchilada.  The condition of the bucket seat tracks and bottoms are questionable but the doors are locked, so I'm on the outside of the glass looking in.  Headliner is there, hard to ruin the bows.

My guess is that they go missing when cars are stripped and the restoration is delayed.  Either that or due to my best friends - body shops.  Those body shop dudes will pay super premium (over eBay) prices on whatever they need, because they are in a hurry and can pass it on to the customer.
