Pinion pilot bearing
« on: May 22, 2025, 01:03:34 PM »
I?m in the process of rebuilding my Nodular 3rd member out of a 69 428 car. The pinion pilot bearing has very little interference fit in the housing, easily set with just a few light taps, is this normal or should there be more of a press fit?

Usually a light press fit as there's not a lot of iron around the bearing, but there is a toothed retainer to secure the pilot bearing once you tap it in the case... Google 9" pilot bearing retainer to see what it looks like.   Hope this helps, John
