Factory '65 GE Headlight
« on: April 13, 2012, 09:38:09 PM »
I need one factory original 1965 General Electric headlight with the etched "FOMOCO" script.  I have one original and need to match it.  Anybody have an extra one, that still works?  8) TIA

You need a pristine, unused one, right?

I have ONE that works that's been installed on my car since it was assembled in MAR 66.  It has 45 years and 86,000 miles on it but I don't really care about keeping it.  I'm gonna put a pair of repops on it.

Look at this thread...http://www.concoursmustang.com/forum/index.php?topic=3099.msg16505#msg16505

Hi Bryan-

I need a pristine one that will pass for new on a trailered concours car.  Will yours pass the test? ;D

Thanks--Gary

No.  It's in great condition for used and driven, but not trailered.

Gary, I may have (1) of these... It is not factory new, but is in excellent working/looking condition. I'll do some digging to see if I can find it.  It was the only one that I had, and I put it away in a box somewhere.

Gary, Not all the GE bulbs were etched on the front. My Aug 64 coupe's bulbs are unmarked on the front. On the back of the bulbs they are marked with Heavy duty bulb made for ford and the date code.

Try some of your old local junk yards. They're several ford cars from that era that shared the same bulb.  I actually found some for my '69 Mach 1. It has 4 headlights.  It took me about 4-6 weeks, but some scavenging, and I come out with 4 good ones with a couple leftovers....Hope this helps.

IF your local yard has them also check delivery vehicles (postal vehicles are often the best). Many of these were not operated at night so the headlights were rarely if ever turned on.

Just a possibility ;)
