All 68s GT stripes were decals. There are a number of graphics companys that can make them. One is RA Motorsports in KC. Give Jeff a call at 816-246-9094
Good luck Marty

The Marti report does not call out the color of the c-stripes.  The "painted stripe" refers to the accent stripe along the upper body line and IS painted.  Va Classic Mustang sells a reproduction c-stripe kit, good quality and licensed by FoMoCo.

Anyone know why the stripes came reflective and non-reflective and the time periods each were used?  Was it due to a problem (like 69) with 3M's availability to provide the reflective style?

Thanks - just asking ;)

Jeff I am not sure if or when it changed but I do know that there was a reflective group option that included the reflective tape and special reflective paint on the styled steel wheels and was only available with the GT equipment option and was available all of the 68 model year.

I am bring this thread back because I am working on a 68 GT that was built 7-25-68 so a very late car. We are un sure whether the stripes were solid or reflective. Does any have a late 68 that has it's original stripes?

Marty : I'm confused. Are you now thinking (contrary to your Reply #7) that the Reflective stripes became "Standard" as opposed to being part of the Reflective Group Option (which would show on the Marti) ?

Marty,
Should be NON-Reflective unless the car has the reflective option.

My 7-15 dearborn cj had reflective gold stripes on when I bought it. (Original paint)
The marti report does not state the reflective option,

The black paint stripe refers to a thin bodyline stripe that runs along the top side of the fender, door and quarter.

Danny is spot on there

Thanks everyone yes I believe the cars with the reflective option would have had the reflective strips with out question. That option was set up in late 67 and a lot changed after the strike. I heard that Ford just started putting reflective stripes on all cars late in the year but have never have found and documentation of that.
I just did not want to make a mistake on this car and started second guessing my self. Thanks for your help, it will get the non reflective stripes. BTW the non reflective stripes are hard to find. Most carry the reflective and say it is correct. A half truth
