I have read several posts regarding shocks, from what I understand the shocks (front and back ) are semi-gloss black.
Correct if we're discussing Mustangs
Are there any other paint markings/daubs or visual indicators applied prior to installation?
All were color coded during 69 so that the worker on the line could look at the buildsheet, pick out the correct ones (front or rear installer) and quickly install them. Met one of the San Jose front stock installers years ago.
Color depended on the markings on the shocks and recorded on buildsheets. Marks were typically a short daub/stripe (1") at the base.
Application of the shocks looks to be dependent on engine, trans, type of suspension and when the car was build.
Anticipating your next question (what would be correct for my car
only have two 69 S code buildsheets for four speeds right now - will check my notes to see if I have something there.
