the best info I could find identified the diameter of an F70x14 tire as 26.2". The modern equivalent that comes closest to that size (26.402" diameter) is 225-70-R14.
I'm going to disagree with everyone and say 225-70-R14. Just do the math - the best info I could find identified the diameter of an F70x14 tire as 26.2". The modern equivalent that comes closest to that size (26.402" diameter) is 225-70-R14.The formula is diameter = ((2 * tire-width * aspect ratio) / 25.4 ) + wheel rim size. Plugging in 225-70-14 you get ((2 * 225 * .7) / 25.4 ) + 14 = 26.402. Other diameters for comparison:205-70-R14: 25.299"215-70-R14: 25.85"
Scott,The OP referenced 14x7 wheels for his 1970. I believe the 1969 originals were 14x6. Will the 215-70-R14 work on a 14x6 wheel? I ask because I'll be looking for tires for my '69 pretty soon. Thanks
Scott: I thought all wheels other than the boss 9's & magnums with the F60-15 tires used six inch rims.
